sardines with style

i made this one like months ago and i just forgot to update my blog due to my busy schedule. i call this "saute sardines" because its just a sardines saute with garlic, onion, soy sauce and vinegar. it's a very simple dish yet delectable in taste.

i really hope i can cook more dishes, maybe a more challenging one. i can't wait to cook on my own kitchen. that would be nice...

bola bola with style

This is my first try to make or prepare food with style. I was inspired to make like this from the Top Teen Chef on food network. I just want to try and see if I could also create food that is creative and well presented. Those teen chef's really impressed me. They know what they want at a young age and the food that they presented was all superb. It looked like it was made by an experienced professional chef. Bravo!

So I made this bola bola with style ala chef. I know, I'm really terrible when it comes to naming food and also naming babies. lol. But at least I tried. I already have at least 3 food that I exclusively created. One of them is Aaron's porkybeans. I named it after my husband because he really loves it. All the ingredients are perfectly suited to his tastes. But I honestly don't like the taste of it. Maybe because of the black olives and mashrooms. ewwwww. Anyway, I'm just really happy with the outcome of what I did. I believe it is well presented. You will be the judge.

turon recipe

Last June 14, we went to Lake Manawa for the annual Fil-Am community picnic. It is also a celebration for June 12, Philippine Independence Day. And all the people who want to attend the said activity will bring food, in short a potluck. So I decided to bring turon because i think it is very "pinoy" and of course the people who will attend are mostly filipinos and i'm sure they miss eating it since they can't buy turon here as ordinarily as in the Philippines. I am not going to make this blog long so here is the recipe for my special crispy turon.

1 pack lumpia wrapper
1 bundle native ripe banana
1/4 pack brown sugar
1 kg. vegetable oil
3 pcs. eggs

procedures:
*peel all the banana and then slice each of them in half
*put each slice of banana inside the lumpia wrapper and roll it
*heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan
*while waiting for the vegetable oil to be heated prepare the sugar and egg
*spread the sugar on the plate and put the egg in a small bowl (whip the egg)
*get one turon each, spread some of the egg on the turon and roll in the sugar. repeat on all turon.
*put the sugared turon in the frying pan and wait till its brown.
*serve while its hot.

i can assume

hi everyone,

to be honest, i can't compose a sentence rightnow. its just that i have so many things to say and all the ideas are just rambles.

but i will give a try.

well, this is my third blog i created. i entitled this Chef in the making because i am a super chef wannabe. i think its obvious that i love to cook and i want to pursue this passion of mine in any way i could. i know education can help a lot in pursuing this career but as for now, we can't afford to spend anything rather than food and shelter. but there is a possibility in the near future, just not at this moment. so that's why i created this blog to post some of my "great" cookings and of course to envision myself as a chef. i know i don't have a lot of experience but i will keep on practicing to achieve my goal. though i am not a real, authentic or registered chef (if there is a term for that), at least in this blog i can assume i am.

if you ask me where did i get this passion, i can't really answer a specific detail and i also don't know where it started. all i know i feel enthuse every time i see people cooking and how they love what they are doing. maybe i see myself in them and i want to be like them. not because i love food and i want to feed people's empty stomach. the truth is, i don't really eat what i cook. at least not that much(unlike my husband). this passion just comes out to me naturally, and i know in my heart, this is the thing i want to do. it's been five years i keep on denying myself that i love this. i think this is the time i can show to you guys how i can make my dreams into reality.

i believe God can make something out of nothing.

my big love,
chef rica
